COLLOIDAL SILVER NANOPARTICLES CAUSE HUMAN BREAST AND LIVER CANCER CELLS TO SELF-DESTRUCT

Yet another in vitro (i.e., test tube) clinical study has demonstrated that colloidal silver nanoparticles cause human breast and liver cancer cells to self-destruct. I’ll be writing about a number of additional studies in the near future, each one documenting the cancer-killing effects of antimicrobial silver.

The question that remains is this:

Now that the evidence is so strong on behalf of silver’s cancer-fighting properties (see links to other studies, below), when are researchers finally going to move beyond the test tube study phase, and start doing real-life human clinical studies?

1. Clinical study on colloidal silver nanoparticles with breast and liver cancer

In this clinical study, published in the European Journal of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, researchers tested the anti-cancer properties of colloidal silver nanoparticles as well as specially prepared silver nanoparticles stabilized by chitosan.

According to the study authors:

“The present study was aimed to investigate the in vitro cytotoxicity effect of colloidal silver and chitosan stabilized silver nanoparticles against human breast cancer cells (MCF-7) and liver cancer cells (HepG2) towards the development of anticancer drugs.”

In other words, this was a test tube study (i.e., in vitro), designed to determine whether or not two different forms of antimicrobial silver (i.e., regular colloidal silver nanoparticles and specially prepared silver nanoparticles bonded with chitosan as a stabilizer) would have an effect against breast cancer cells and liver cancer cells.

2. Both Forms Worked!

Concentrations off 1 ppm, 5 ppm, 10 ppm, 25 ppm and 50 ppm were utilized in the study.

While both forms of silver caused the breast and liver cancer cells to self-destruct, they did so in a dose-dependent manner, which is to say, the higher doses worked better and faster against the cancer cells than the lower doses.

The study authors concluded:

“There was an immediate induction of cellular damage in terms of loss of cell membrane integrity, oxidative stress and apoptosis were found in the cell which treated with colloidal silver and chitosan stabilized silver nanoparticles…

…The experimental results…indicated that the colloidal silver has antitumor activity through induction of apoptosis in human cancer cell line…”

In other words, both the colloidal silver and the silver nanoparticles stabilized with chitosan caused liver and breast cancer cells to self-destruct. And both worked better at the higher concentrations used in the study.

The study authors concluded, “The synthesized AgNPs and CH-AgNPs exhibited excellent cytotoxicity against MCF-7 and HepG-2 cell lines.”

3. Most Interesting…

What was most interesting about this study, to me, was the fact that typical colloidal silver nanoparticles were tested against the cancer cells, and so were silver nanoparticles stabilized with chitosan.

Whenever you see clinical studies using silver nanoparticles that are “stabilized” with one substance or another, you can rest assured the study authors were ultimately looking to develop a “novel” form of silver that can be patented as a drug and monopolized by Big Pharma.

Generally, to do so, they chemically bond the stabilizing agent to the silver. This way they can legitimately say they have a “new product,” and can therefore patent it.

As the study authors mentioned in passing, in their conclusion: “…the findings in the present study might provide a novel approach for the treatment of the disease in future.” And that’s the point. They need a “novel approach” in order to patent the process so they can monopolize and sell the product.

What this study demonstrates is something I’ve been saying for several decades now:

Since plain old colloidal silver appears to work against cancer in these test tube studies, there’s really no need to develop “novel” forms of colloidal silver except to be able to market them as “drugs” and charge tens of thousands of times more than the value of the silver being utilized in them.
